Paul Murray’s straight talk express
Every writer’s practice is different, and what works for one may not work for another. You listen to black metal while you’re working; I need total silence. Here, instead of talking generally, I will speak about specific areas of writing as I’ve experienced them myself – including dialogue, research, the importance of revision, and how I structure my writing day. I’ll also speak about the psychological attitudes I’ve found most helpful for the long haul of writing a novel, and where to find inspiration when it seems that all is lost.
This will take the form of a Q&A instead of a lecture, so bring along a question.
