Writing Real People
Whether you write memoir, family history or have found someone whose story you’d like to tell, bringing real people to the page is about creating characters just as much as a novelist does. How do you spot the traits that make a person stand out? How do you recreate their voice on the page? In this workshop we explore the craft of building nuanced characters, finding and honing stories and sometimes handling difficult truths.
Please come prepared with a photograph of somebody you know well and who means a lot to you.
This workshop is open to non-fiction writers of all levels.
