2021 Virtual Workshops:
The Taste of a Glacier: Creating a Strong Sense of Place
How do you transport your reader to the faraway places in your story? How can you better paint a scene with all five senses while? How do you stimulate the readers’ own imagination to help construct the stage of your story? Sharing lessons learned writing for National Geographic, and with several hands-on exercises, pick up some practical tools to conjure up the living, breathing scenery of your writing.
Putting Your Life into Words: Turning Memory into Memoir
Memory may be our strongest source of writing material, but we all remember things differently. In this practical workshop, learn and practice some real-life methods employed by the author to access deep memories and bring your personal experiences onto the page. Consider why we write memoir, what we achieve by writing it down, and different approaches for turning your lived truth into sharable art. Learn structures that might work for you, how to challenge your own apprehensions, and (perhaps most importantly) knowing what to leave out.
