Pub night singer
Hera Björk is an award-winning Icelandic singer and songwriter. She was born in Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavík. As the daughter of a well-known singer, she quickly developed a passion for music. At the age of 16, Hera placed highly in a nation-wide singing contest, which led to her landing roles in musical theatre shows in Iceland including ‘Rocky Horror’, ‘Evita’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘Kiss Me Kate’.
Although she had already released music before the age of 12, Hera Björk released her debut album, Ilmur af jólum (The Scent of Christmas) in 2000. This helped established her as a music industry professional and made her a household name. Hera gained international recognition in 2010 when she was chosen to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with her song ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi.’
In 2013 Hera represented Iceland at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile and won Best Song with ‘Because you can,’ further cementing her international career.
She has an extensive body of work and has toured with many well-known artists like Björk and Sigur Rós as well as regular hosting duties at events and on television.
Today Hera Björk continues to release music and perform both in her home country of Iceland and internationally.
Hera Björk will perform at our pub night.
