Sigrun Thormar was born in Reykjavík on the 10th November 1959. She lived in Denmark from 1969 – 1973, again in from 1985 – 2010. She also lived in Sweden between 1982 – 1982. She studied economics and worked as a business consultant for several years, both for Danish and Icelandic companies. Married to Gunnar Rögnvaldsson in 1980, she is the mother of Valdís Gunnarsdóttir 1982 and Gunnar Freyr Gunnarsson 1986. Grandmother of Jóhann 2015, Markús 2016 and Júlía Sóley 2019. She started working at Snorrastofa in the summer of 2011 as the institute’s bookkeeper and then as lecturer for groups visiting Snorrastofa. In 2011 she became project leader at Snorrastofa and from 1 January 2020 the department manager at Snorrastofa. She speaks Icelandic, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English and German. Elected into the local council in Skorradalur since 2014. She will deliver a talk during the Literary Borgarfjörður tour.
